Time to Experience NuVo
Make plans to go to NuVo. Everything happens in the kitchen, where the chef and his crew feature a seasonal menu based on fresh food from local Kentucky farms like Neltner's in Camp Springs, Shady Grove in Corinth and Thistlehair in Union, as well as Findlay Market vendors. Service at NuVo isn't rushed and portions are reasonable, so it's ideal for trying lots of new things. A witty presentation of real quality ingredients resulting in a stellar meal at a promising new place (AM 7-16-08). Entrees: $15-$24.

After spending the summer everywhere from Spain to the O.C. to Minnesota so far, Jessica finally found time to go out and try a few new restaurants for Cincycoolness and here is her take:
Knotty Pine on the Bayou
6720 Licking Pike
Cold Spring, KY 41076
(859) 781-2200
Hours: 5-9 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday; 5-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday; 4-8 p.m.
Missing New Orleans or have you had a sudden craving for crawfish? Well I know just the answer for you. Knotty Pine on the Bayou is the closest and best rendition of an authentic “New Orleans” style restaurant. With the location being on the Liking River in Kentucky, with a titled dining room, and jazz music literally takes you back in time. Though the food is what really tops off the experience. They have a well diverse menu with one thing in common- spice; though there are a few options you can get without. If you don’t know what to get, try the sampler where you’ll receive Cajun chicken and steak, rice and beans, and the best gumbo ever. Also, it helps to be able to get something good to eat and have the attire be casual. Meals are priced $10-20.
Chalk Food + Wine
318 Greenup St.
Covington, KY 41011
859-643-1234
Hours: 11 a.m.-to evening Monday-Friday; 4:30 p.m. to evening Saturday. Closing times to be determined.
This new restaurant has taken over Pho Paris’s innovation and flair. Jean Robert has given Chef Jared Whalen complete control of the menu, which has enabled him to change it as often as the mood strikes him. Your experience at Chalk food + wine is more than just great food. The unique wine, beer, and martini selections are designed to perfectly pair with Chef’s delicious food. The Wine Room offers small production, artisanal wines, available for retail sale, or in the dining room for a corkage fee. The staff is trained on the nuances of food and wine pairing, and always happy to recommend the perfect match!

Welcome to Jessica's Cool Cuisine! Jessica loves to go out to eat and try all different types of restaurants all over the tri-state. Lucky for us she has agreed
to frequently highlight some of her favorites for the Coolness! Here are her first 3 reccomendations:
Sung Korean Bistro

Dent to your wallet: $10-$20
This is a great place for a date or to gather with your friends. This place is authentic Korean and fascinates all taste buds imaginable. This restaurant is under 6 months old and is a spin off from the infamous Korean Riverside Restaurant in Covington, KY. The ambiance and stone bowl servings will be sure to satisfy you prior to a night out on the town. Free parking in available after 6pm during the week and all day during the weekends on 7th street.
Lavomatic
1211 Vine St. · Cincinnati, OH 45202
513-621-1999
Cool Cuisine: French
Threads: Casual
Dent to your wallet: $10-$20
Jean Robert’s next finest restaurant, but scales down from his typical $$$ restaurants. This place is great for lunch or for an inexpensive dinner. This restaurant adds to the up and coming over the Rhine area and is just one of many new businesses that are present on Vine Street. This is a mix of French meets a little American. For lunch I had the brie cheese and roasted red pepper jelly sandwich with a cup of their cauliflower bisque. Mmmmm! An afternoon affair of eating and shopping the boutique shops next door sounds like a great time to me.
