Ra Ra Riot, one of our favorite bands from late 2008 has made a video of our favorite song off their new album, The Rhumb Line.  If you missed them at Southgate House in December they have a busy touring schedule in 2009 which comes closest to us on April 10th when they are at the Louisville Palace with Death Cab for Cutie and Cold War Kids.

The Hold Steady>>Atlantic City

Today is the release of the compilation album from War Child: Heroes.  The organization is one that helps support children affected by war throughout the world.  This project called on music legends like U2, Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, The Kinks, Bob Dylan and many others to pick a song of theirs to be covered by an artist of today of their choosing.  The theory behind it is one generation supporting the next.  Some of today's new artists include Lily Allen, The Hold Steady, Elbow, Beck, TV on the Radio, Hot Chip, The Kooks, Duffy, and many others that have been featured here over the past year.  This clip is audio of Coolness favorite The Hold Steady performing Bruce Springsteen's 'Atlantic City.'  The entire album is totally worth checking out!

Here is today's Vintage Monday, music video Cool Clip....

John Mellencamp>>Paper In Fire (Live form Farm Aid IV 1990 at the Hoosier Dome)

Here is a great clip of John Mellencamp in front of a Hoosier filled crowd at the Hoosier Dome in 1990 at the 4th annual Farm Aid benefit.  Two cool things happened at this building in 1990 that has now been imploded.  Xavier beat Georgetown to go to the its first sweet 16 and Farm Aid put on a massive show when it really felt more relevant than it is today.  John Mellencamp is still big but probably never more so than at this moment of his career.
