ESPN has been counting down the top 50 most prestigious college basketball programs since 1984-1985 and Xavier checked in at #17 while U.C. was a respectable #19.  U.K. finished at #4 and the #1 team was Xavier's opponent later this year, Duke.  Go here for the full list and story from ESPN.  Still a mid-major Anthony???

The Cool Kids-'What It Is' (Live on Jimmy Kimmel)

It doesn't get any more funky than The Cool Kids!  These guys have been all over the place including this network television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live where they get the added bonus of being introduced by Justin Timberlake.  One week from today they will bring their jams to Lollapalooza in Chicago.

Billy Joel and Paul McCartney Live from Shea Stadium playing 'Let It Be!'

Everyone knows they are tearing down Yankee Stadium this year, but Shea Stadium, the home of the New York Mets is also falling as well.  Last week Billy Joel played 2 shows called, "Last Plays at Shea" to honor the underappreciated stadium which has hosted many amazing memories in its life span including the legendary world's first ever stadium concert by the Beatles in 1965.  The shows were star studded with guests.  Besides McCartney, John Mellencamp, Tony Bennett, Roger Daltrey, Steven Tyler, Garth Brooks, and others made the shows memorable.  Though this video is a little shaky, it will still give you goose bumps when you think about the historical moment you are witnessing... Go here to read a complete recap.

Missy Higgins-'Don't Ever' -Live from The Madison in Covington!

We would like to thank everyone who joined us at the awesome Missy Higgins show Friday night at the Madison in Covington, it was a great time!  We would like to also thank the person who posted many videos from the show including this one where we all got to whistle along with Missy!  Can you hear your whistle?  Anyway, this was a fun, raw acoustic moment in the show which also reveals Missy's personlity...

Devendra Banhart-'Carmensita'

If you're an indie rocker and you are dating Natalie Portman, It's probably a good idea to get her in one of your videos.  That's exactly what Devendra Banhart did and it actually looks like they are having lots of fun together, the music i pretty good too.

The Cool Corner is alive and dancing???

"Watch out for the squeeze play!"

Over at Barstool Sports they are having a caption contest for this picture above... I don't have a real good one but at least the Reds are ahead of Pittsburgh in the standings, even if just barely!  If you have a good one, go to Barstool Sports and send it in!

Throw Me The Statue-'Lolita'

Throw Me The Statue is an emerging indie rock band out of Seattle and is the musical vehicle of Scott Reitherman.  For lack of a better description I'd say they have a chance to become the west coast's version of Vampire Weekend, though with a distinct sound and identity of their own.  This video is a Take Away Show shot on a boat on the Puget Sound.  The people behind these videos have also done work with Vampire Weekend, which is somewhat ironic.  Statue's new album, 'Moonbeams' is out and getting great reviews.

Now that we are just 2 weeks away from Lollapalooza another band on the lineup that  should be fun is the Brazilian electro pop band CSS.  This is a live clip from their performance of one of their biggest hits at last years Glastonbury festival in England.  No doubt that will get will shake the ground in Grant Park!

Meet The Mets!

The New York Mets are in town and they are coming in on a 9 game winning streak.  This is the best fight song in professional sports history, an instant classic!

Missy Higgins-'Scar' (Live at Wave Aid 2005)

Missy Higgins comes to The Madison tomorrow night and we are excited about the group of people we have that are planning on attending, it should be a great show.  This video was my first ever exposure to Missy Higgins and what convinced me to buy her first album.

This week local and talented singer/songwriter Katie Reider passed away from her rare tumor condition at the young age of 30.  By going to this link anyone is able to download 9 of her songs for just a $1 donation which will go to assist her family for all the expenses resulting from her bout with this terrible cancer.  Their goal is 500,000 hits in one year.  Katie's music is quite good and it is kind of ashame more people will become exposed to her excellent music now that she has passed on, but its still better than not at all.

The World's Best Band, The Hold Steady, just released their new album, 'Stay Positive'.  It's almost impossible to believe but by most accounts, it is their best work to date.  Here is

one of countless reviews that believes so.

Eric Hutchinson-'Justin Timberlake Parody'(live)

So we are just 2 days away from the Missy Higgins show at the Madison Theater in Covington!  We were going to feature Matt Nathanson, who was scheduled to open the show in this spot, until a check of the Madison's website showed a new name listed as opening, Eric Hutchinson.  Being not familar with the new opener, we did some searching and discovered he is a rather accomplished American singer/songwriter in his own right who grew up in the DC metro area.  If nothing else, it looks like he likes to put comedy into his live performances as is evident from this clip of him mocking Justin Timberlake.  Definately an entertainer and should be a good replacement!

Kenwood Building Deemed by Residents as an Eyesore!

Derfmagazine.com

CINCINNATI - Many Kenwood residents consider the LasikPLUS Vision Center building to be an eyesore. Kenwood resident Drew Lachey said it is important for residents to keep an eye on buildings like this. "If we don't keep a lid on this type of construction, another eyesore like this could be built in the blink of an eye." In a community meeting, Mr. Lachey lashed out at the building saying, "I'm not exactly a pupil of architecture but I know something gaudy when I see it. We must never lose site of our vision for our community."  Go here for the full story...

Coldplay-'Lover's In Japan' (Live)

Coldplay finally kicked off their world tour in Los Angeles last night at the Forum after delaying it for production issues.  After watching this live performance of 'Lover's In Japan,' which so far is my favorite track on the new album, it is obvious this tour will be a huge production, but will also piss off the cleaning crew at every arena they play!  Here is the LA Times review.

STS9-'Aimlessly' (live)

Sound Tribe Sector Nine or STS9 as they are better known as are an electronic infused jam band from Santa Cruz, CA who have really made a name for themselves by their stunning live performances.  We were lucky enough to witness them for ourselves at last years Lollapalooza kind of by accident, which is what makes an event like that fantastic.  Lucky for us they are playing a co-headlining show at Moonlight Gardens at Coney tomorrow night along with Umphrey's McGee which should prove to be one jammin' night!
