Cincinnati's in the Top 10!
In a list of America's hard-drinking cities put out by Forbes magazine, Cincinnati ranked at #10! That's the good news, the bad news is Cleveland was ranked tied for #8??? We don't live in Cleveland, we live in Cincinnati! Every citizens goal from today until the new list next year must be to rank ahead of Cleveland! Heck, let's not stop there, let's go for the #1 spot. Lord knows we have a better chance in this city to drink our way to a championship then rely on our pro sports teams...

One of the surprise highlights of Lollapalooza last weekend was the raucous good time had by all listening to Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. It was such a good set that when Wilco started right when they were done it made there well crafted brooding sound seem somewhat anti-climatic. It's funky friday so play this video and get out of your chair and move a little! It's okay, nobody's watchin'!

Dave Matthews Band Will Be Rockin' Riverbend Tonight!
Yes, even after 3 days of non-stop music at Lollapalooza, we are still going to listen to Dave and his awesome band tonight. This year we are doing a first for us however, we will be on a boat behind the stage. I heard this is a cool thing to do, and it has to beat being swamped by the drunkfest that occurs on the lawn... Though I heard the river may be a drunkfest too, just a little more sophisticated!
Cincinnati is now a College Hoops Town!

Cat Power-'Fortunate Son' (Live at lollapalooza '08)
Yes, we're back from Lolla-land! A little worn out but still relishing in 3 days of great music and being surrounded by lots of people with the 3 days of sold out crowds. The first performance we took in Friday was Cat Powers and I'm glad we did. Chan Marschall, aka. Cat Power has a one of a kind sultry voice and this cover is done in true Cat Power style. The video is pretty good, the sound is average.

So today is August 1st!
I love the first of the month because you get to flip your calendar and see what the picture is for the next month! And for me this is extra fun because my calendar is a National Parks calendar with gorgeous photographs of different parks each month. And I am an NPS junkie. If you like to get outside and hike and explore and camp, you need to check out www.nps.gov to plan your next vac-ay. I leave tomorrow morning to head west on the road for two weeks of adventures and I can barely stand it (I promise that when I get back I will tell ya all about my excursions). And my cooler is packed with plenty of delicious beverages for the trip. I will give you the run-down on the wine pick page.

So Long and Good Luck Junior!
The Ken Griffey Jr. era has come to an end in Cincinnati on a sour note I suppose, especially after his antics on Saturday night, but we should wish him luck in Chicago. Although his years here have been tumultuous, he never really was embraced here in Cincinnati in a way a player of his stature should have. Let's hope this is a good move for all involved. I'm sure Joel will chime in soon about this and all things Reds with a rant!?

Yes, we are excited about heading to the windy city for this awesome music event! Hopefully it will be windy because the weather report calls for sunny skies and 95 degree temps... Many people have been asking me who I am looking forward to seeing at Lolla and that is such a hard question to ask because there are just too many to name. The National-'Slow Show'-(Live)
Only a couple of days away from Lollapalooza and as I went over the list of bands I wanted to see, I realized that on Sunday The National is performing! 2007's band of the year (in my opinion), The National have been spending most of their time lately touring with R.E.M. Of course these guys being from Cincinnati makes them all that much cooler. This video has them playing a studio session version of 'Slow Show,' my personal favorite song off of last year's amazing album, Boxer.

"Baseball fans and art collectors will gather at the Cincinnati Art Museum on Wednesday, July 30 at 7 p.m. to witness the unveiling of a limited edition poster featuring the portrait of Pete Rose by American pop artist Andy Warhol. The public is invited to a free cocktail reception and informal lecture by local gallery owner and art collector Carl Solway to learn the behind-the scenes story that brought Pete Rose to the Cincinnati Art Museum collection."

This video is too good to be true, I mean why is this a big deal? Isn't weed bet all the time in casinos? I heard it's routine practice in Reno... Imagine how much more relaxing casinos would be if weed was the currency! They wouldn't even need the security cameras...
