Here is your new rock release Tuesday Cool Clip from Altitude TV

November 24, 2008

The twist's and turns during the season finale of Entourage were awesome and that type of writing is what has brought the show back to the top.  I can't believe we have to wait until next summer for more...though it sounds like the cast might be spending more time in New York!

Xavier's "D" brings them a sweet championship in Puerto Rico.

C.J. Anderson's toughness at both ends of the court earned him M.V.P. honors and Terrell "Tutu" Holloway

was money from the line going 10-10 in the 63-58 upset over #12 Memphis.

What they are saying in Memphis...

"Tyreke Evans walked to the bench with 10:05 remaining, an index finger dabbing his left nostril to stop the blood from draining out.  Five games into the 2008-09 season, the young University of Memphis basketball team finally got punched in the face. By the end, their egos had been bruised, their bodies battered."

Here is today's music video Cool Clip....

Chromeo>>Momma's Boy

Chromeo is an electrofunk duo based in Montreal[2].The duo is P-Thugg (Patrick Gemayel) on keyboards, synthesizers, and talk box, and Dave 1 (David Macklovitch) on guitar and lead vocals. The two have been best friends since childhood and they describe themselves as "the only successful Arab/Jewish collaboration since the beginning of time".

"Yeah Baby!"

#1 play of the day on Sportscenter...

Friday Night Lights, here's a review of the latest episode.

 (They played The Hold Steady!)

Thanks to Guns N' Roses, everyone in America gets a free Dr. Pepper!

(Unfortunately not a flaming Dr. Pepper like the ones my friends did at Arthurs last night...)

Here is today's Funky Friday music video Cool Clip....

Passion Pit>>Sleepyhead

Unless you are from the Boston area, chances are you have never heard of the band Passion Pit.  Many early indications are this band is ready to be a break out band in '09 much like Vampire Weekend was in '08.  With music described as 'Big Beat, Soul, and Pop,' from what I heard so far, they will definately get your blood pumping.  With an EP Chunk of Change out now and tour that is breaking away from the northeast, including at stop here in Cincinnati at Northside Tavern on January 29th, I have a feeling we'll be hearing much more Passion Pit very soon...

Coldplay>>Lost!

Before I was introduced to Coldplay , I was lost musically, or at the very least uninspired by new music.  Today new music is my passion.  Though I don't share the same affinity for the band as I once did and I am not a huge fan of the new album, this is still a great live shot video of probably the best song on the new album.  I have no doubt I will see them again live soon and will still be completely impressed.

Want to listen some good holiday music?  Check out the WOXY Holiday Mixer!

From now through the New Year, we're pleased to offer up the WOXY HOLIDAY MIXER! This unique 24/7 collection features hundreds of seasonal tunes and is filled with unique renditions of your holiday favorites by modern rockers from around the globe. We have a little bit of something for everyone. This year, we’ve added almost 100 new tracks to the mix from bands like Frightened Rabbit, Low, Goldfrapp, Gentleman Auction House, Rogue Wave, Blitzen Trapper, Evangelicals, Jason Collett, and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. You’ll also hear modern rock faves like Sufjan Stevens, Belle and Sebastian, My Morning Jacket, The Flaming Lips, and Yo La Tengo heavily featured in the music mix along with some things you might not expect (like tracks from "A John Waters Christmas", Pee Wee Herman, or Spinal Tap).

To balance out all the modern rock tunes, we have a nice mix of classic tracks from artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and James Brown. You’ll also hear some of these truly vintage artists get a more contemporary spin off of compilations like the new “Verve Remixed Christmas” CD. To round things out a little more, we've also included some tunes about winter, snow falling, and the month of December, mainly because we know you can only hear "Jingle Bells" so many times...

A lot of the tracks we selected are out-of-print or hard to find and we had a lot of fun rounding them all up for you. We hope you enjoy the WOXY Holiday Mixer, and all of us at WOXY.com wish you a safe and happy holiday season!

Editors>>The Racing Rats

While having a blast at the Matt and Kim show last night at the Mad Hatter, including an immediate dance party as soon as the show ended, I thought back to the first ever show I saw at this venue a few years back and remembered it was Editors.  Editors are a British indie rock/post-punk revival band from Birmingham, England, composed of Tom Smith (lyricist/vocalist/guitarist/pianist), Chris Urbanowicz (guitarist), Russ Leetch (bass guitarist) and Ed Lay (drummer), who met while studying at Staffordshire University, in Stafford, England during 2003. They take their inspiration from bands such as Echo & the Bunnymen, R.E.M., Joy Division and Elbow. Many people cite New York band Interpol as an influence but this has been adamantly denied by the band.   This track, "The Racing Rats" was the most recent single released off their latest album, An End Has A Start.

Xavier rolled Toledo last night and they are off to Puerto Rico!

Freshman Terrell Holloway takes it to the hoop in Xavier's 81-65 win over Toledo. (Musketeerscoop.com)

If you have ever flown into NYC's La Guardia Airport, you'll appreciate this landing!

Decision 08!

Tonight you have a choice.  You can still get good tickets for the Eagles show at U.S. Bank Arena for a mere $185.00 a piece plus fees to see a has been band play their classics or you can go see a hot up and coming duo from Brooklyn, Matt and Kim at the Mad Hatter in Covington for $10.00.  You Decide!

Who are Matt and Kim you say?  See for yourself!

Matt and Kim>>Yeah Yeah (live)

We have featured this duo from Brooklyn previously and are really excited they are in town tonight.  Even if you have never heard them before, by all accounts you will smile the entire time they are on stage, you may just dance a little too.  Hope to see you there!

Turtle and Jamie-Lynn Sigler are together in real life??? (Sorry Anthony)

The Bengals/Eagles game left everyone fit to be tied...

Even in Philly...

It is the kind of game that can lead to big pronouncements. Teams can be written off for the season after a performance like that. Players can lose their starting positions. In other organizations, with other sets of circumstances, this is the kind of game that costs coaches their jobs.-Philly.com

Will Chad Ocho Cinco or these days Chad Ocho Stinko please just go away...

Quite a scene developed early this morning, according to Eagles commentator Mike Quick and Eagles web site coordinator Dave Spadaro.

Both men witnessed Bengals star receiver Chad Ocho Cinco/Johnson cut into a line of Eagles wide receivers during warmups and run a slant pattern. When Cinco (Donovan McNabb) hit Ocho Cinco (Johnson) in stride, the Bengals' receiver went to his knees and looked up into the sky, then hugged McNabb.

Apparently Ocho Cinco has the same dreams at night as a lot of Eagles fans.-Philly.com

...and apparently this was the only good route Chad ran all day!

Bon Iver>>The Wolves Act 1&2

It's about that time when all the 'best of' lists start appearing all over cyber land. When they do, there is no doubt Bon Iver will be at or near the top of any list involving 'best new or emerging artist' or 'best album.' If you haven't yet given a listen to this tremendously talented work, this video and song is a good place to start. If you are a Grey's Anatomy fan, this track was featured on a recent episode.  Also, lucky for us, Bon Iver is scheduled to perform at Headliners in Louisville on December 17th and there is no question a road trip is in the cards...
